(Part 2 of 2)
This is a diary of my journey in photography. Part 1 can be found here.
It was the start of the 21st century. Film was still prevalent however, a different medium was beginning to dominate the industry.
A twisted mixed bag of things copied, inspired and original. This is what happens when someone who doesn't really write tries writing. I'm writing this as a sort of note/diary/write up. It's a cauldron of my thoughts. Or at least my coherent ones. Stick around. You might just like it.

(Tech) Learn To Code
Okay, here's a quick list of the references I use in learning to code. This servers as a personal notebook for me to review from time to time, and I don't mind sharing it either.
For the basics/newbies, you might want to start here:
For the basics/newbies, you might want to start here:
- code.org/learn
- www.w3schools.com (This one is especially useful even if you're already past being a newbie. This features serveral languages as well.)
Now for the more specific stuff.
- HTML is the first language I learned. Though the sites above already feature HTML learning, it wouldn't hurt to add another to the list.
- http://www.htmldog.com/guides/html/beginner/ provides a good reference for HTML by segregating everything by topic.
- https://www.mtholyoke.edu/acad/germ/neh/HTML.html lets one learn HTML in 20 minutes. Then again that'd depend on how fast one can read and comprehend. This site is rather outdated too. I guess it's good as a quick reference for stuff one forgets.
- http://html.net/ lets one systematically learn web programming. This begins with HTML, followed by CSS, PHP and to top it all off, JavaScript.
- PERL has quite a lot of references. I'm still starting to learn this stuff, so I'm listing all them search page results here. This borrows syntax from scripting languages, by the way, which makes it actually hard to read at times. But it works wonders nonetheless.
- PHP is also a hurdle I'm trying to tackle. Here are a few of the references I collected so far:
- Some good advice regarding PHP here: http://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/the-best-way-to-learn-php--net-22287
- Aside from the usual coding there's also scripting. For now I'm limiting the list to BASH.
- The BASH Advanced Scripting guide is awesome. This is as simple as it gets: www.tldp.org/LDP/abs/html/
- It also has a couple of other reference pages that would be essential to say the least:
- The BASH Introduction How-To: www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Bash-Prog-Intro-HOWTO.html
- The BASH guide for beginners: www.tldp.org/LDP/Bash-Beginners-Guide/html/
- Here's also an alternative BASH guide: linuxconfig.org/bash-scripting-tutorial
This is just an initial. I'll add more references on the list as I go on.

(Twist) I Painted Millions Of Words I
(Part 1 of 2)
I like gadgets. I suppose in this day and age, very few people don't. Among the gadgets I have, aside from the essential laptop and smartphone, I have a particular sweet spot for the camera. There's a saying that goes, "The best thing about pictures is that they stay the same even if the people in them have changed." I suppose that's what makes it me love cameras. Happy moments are always fleeting and if I have my way I'd preserve it all. A picture paints a thousand words. I have taken tens of thousands of pictures. I dare say close to a hundred-something thousand even. To that effect, I guess you can say I "painted" millions of words.

(Tech) 10 Distributions And Who They're Meant For
It's been the same right from the start. Too many distributions can tend to get confusing. Here's a little something that can help sort out your options leading you to a more informed choice.
This list mentions mostly the popular ones and the big names. But there should be some that can be interesting.

You know who you are and in which audience group you belong. This should help you get started or help you make a choice if you're thinking of switching.

(Art) 50 Things to Avoid in Street Photography
| Rain Dance by Stephen Wright. Image taken from Wiki Media Commons |
Personally, I don't do street photography. At least not in the Philippines. The streets are teeming with thieves and robbers so basically, wielding a camera becomes a bit of a status symbol whether you intend to or not. It's expensive to lose a gear for me. That aside, for the rest of you who like getting into street photography, this article would help you in improving your craft.

Enjoy and happy shooting! ... And be wary of who's near your gear.

(Tech) The Top 7 Best Linux Distros for 2014 | Linux.com
For some time I've been on Ubuntu 13.04. It's been working so well that I didn't find it worth the effort to upgrade to 13.10. The next version that would probably interest me is 14.04 or at most, 14.10... But it's still some time away. I've been poking around the net and found something that piqued my interest. I've had about enough of the Unity interface, but I still like running on Linux. The same goes for being in Ubuntu. I supposed I've gotten so used to the way they package things. It's refreshing to see that there are still other distros and they're all getting better. Chances are I might switch to Lubuntu or Xubuntu eventually. Windows 8.1 may be awesome right now, but other than for gaming I still can't justify to myself paying for the price of the OS. Yes, I'm such a cheapskate.

(Tech) No Zoom, Just Plain Prime
I recall seeing a post on a social network a picture of a window of a building. The person who took it was saying something like, "This is what 26x is capable of..."
I know it's no big deal. Though I was able to outdo it without any huge X-times zoom. So how was it done?

(Twist) Random Ramblings
Yeah, I'm out of words. Yet I feel compelled to write something... Anything. It's an insanity that I find amusing. Like a hand writing even after the pen's gone dry...
